When Elchin heard the gospel, he immediately prayed and received Jesus Christ as his Saviour. Then he brought this good news back to his house and shared it with his family.
In a small village in the mountains of northern Azerbaijan, Aslan*, a local pastor and member of the OM team in the Caucasus, met Elchin*. After Aslan shared the gospel with him, Elchin immediately prayed and received Jesus Christ as his Saviour. Aslan gave him a New Testament as a gift, which Elchin brought back to his house.
Because they lived far apart, Aslan could not visit Elchin again for two months. When he did return to the village, Aslan was welcomed into Elchin’s house and introduced to his family. As Aslan began to talk about the Bible, Elchin’s daughter Sevda* said, “I know what you’re talking about. I know about Abraham. I know about Jesus.” He asked how she knew. Sevda said, “Two months ago, Dad brought this Book to our house, and since that day, I have been reading the Book on a daily basis.”
Through that Book, the Bible, Sevda fell in love with Jesus. Wanting others to know the good news of Christ, she gathered her friends and shared the Book with them. They formed a small group where they read the Bible together, discuss it and share their faith with others.
God is doing amazing things through families in Azerbaijan. Please pray for them to be strengthened in their faith. May entire households come to faith together!
