Journey Overview

Interrailing in Europe while sharing your faith and meeting and serving with OM teams throughout the journey. For those 50+ Are you keen to explore different cultures and share your faith? Join a group of other like minded disciples 50+ on this transformative mission adventure where faith, prayer, service, and exploration intersect in the heart of Europe. Race Across Europe .4 is a unique opportunity that combines the excitement of interrailing with the the opportunity to spread love, compassion, and the message of Jesus Christ across diverse cultures.


We want to see people grow in their relationship with God, to gain a greater vision for mission, to have eyes opened further on how to pray for Europe and step out in faith to have an impact. Picture yourself exploring iconic cities like Berlin and Budapest, not merely as travellers, but as ambassadors of Jesus Christ on a sacred mission – to spread the light of Christ.

There will be a team video call on Monday 11th August at 7:30 PM UK time which is mandatory.

Cost includes interrail pass, accommodation, transport & main meals. Excludes insurance, vaccinations and police checks if required. If you are joining from Europe, you will need to pay for travel in the country you reside in where the interrail pass is not possible to use.

Prior to travel across Europe, participants will receive training and orientation at the OM UK London base. You'll start in London and finish in Hungary. You will organise your own travel home from Hungary.

Married couples are welcome to apply if they are ok to sleep in separate rooms sometimes. Applicants must be 50 or over. This option is aimed towards participants aged 50-75.

The cost may change, but should not increase. Cost includes interrail pass, accommodation, transport & meals. Excludes insurance.

What To Expect

Key Ministry Activities:

  1. Be inspired by OM workers: Hear first-hand testimonies from OM workers in the countries you travel to, hear more about the country and how God is at work in that area from those who have been called there longer term.
  2. Evangelism: Share your faith and engage in intentional evangelism through respectful conversations, prayer walks or organised ministry and outreach. Be sensitive to cultural differences and always prioritise love and understanding.
  3. Cultural Immersion: Immerse yourself in European cultures as you travel sampling local cuisine and interacting and working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  4. Fellowship and Reflection: Spend time bonding with fellow participants (you'll be a team of up to 8 people) and local believers through Bible study sessions, worship sessions, church services and prayer meetings. Reflect on your experiences, challenges, and spiritual growth throughout the journey.

The journey (God-willing):

(5th-9th Sep) Starting at our OM base in North London. You will need to make your own way there for the evening of the 5th for an evening meal and the weekend will include team building, orientation, training and local outreach with OM UK workers to help prepare you for the journey ahead.

(9th – 13th Sep) in Belgium

(13th-17th) in Berlin

(17th-20th) in Hungary. You’ll have a debrief here and then organise and pay for your own way home from Budapest.

Participant Profile

Age Range: 50-75

You need to be passionate about sharing your faith, excited about meeting new people and keen to travel! Race Across Europe 4 is aimed at those aged 50 -75 years old. You must be able to walk a reasonable distance, withstand European temperatures in September, carry your own belongings (ideally in a backpack), get on and off trains with your luggage and be able to go up & down the stairs in accommodation if required. You’ll need to be flexible if plans need to change and be willing to live in close proximity to the team for the 2 weeks – you will likely share rooms as well so personal space will be limited.

You will also need to have a smart phone with EU roaming capability. Ability to use Apps for booking trains is a must as your Interrail pass is on an App.

If you have any underlying health conditions that could occur while on this outreach it needs to be disclosed during the application process as well as on your insurance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will there be accommodation provided?

You will stay in a combination of OM bases and other simple accommodation throughout the journey, fostering a sense of community and hospitality. You will share a room with people of the same sex and we can't always guarantee married couples will be accommodated together in all the accommodation you will stay in.

Will there be food provided?

Food is included in the cost. Meals will be a combination of cooking together as a group, being fed by those hosting you (usually local style food) and sourcing your own food. Please let us know in advance of any special dietary needs and allergies (vegetarian, food allergies, dairy-free, gluten free, etc.).

Do I need to make my own travel arrangements?

You'll need to travel to north London on the 5th September for early evening as we'll start with an evening meal together. The address will be given upon acceptance. The closest train station to the OM UK base in London is Harlesden.

Travel between destinations will be primarily by train using Interrail passes allowing scenic views and access to major cities in Europe.

Race Across Europe 4 will end in Hungary on the 20th September.

What should my health condition be like?

You should be in good health, mobile, able to walk reasonable distances and get on and off train steps without difficulty. Accommodation might not be on the ground floor. If you have any underlying health conditions that could occur while on this outreach it needs to be disclosed during the application process.

Do I need a visa?

Please check www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa for coming to the UK, and then check Schengen requirements for other countries you will travel to.
