Partnership Overview

The housekeeper is responsible for managing the daily housekeeping. They ensure that the housekeeping volunteers maintain standards of cleanliness in residents' quarters and public areas. They plan schedules for volunteers.

Required Skills

Tasks

  • Direct and manage all aspects of housekeeping such as scheduling, staffing, and quality of cleaning.
  • Develop and deliver effective training to short term volunteers.
  • Review physical and cleanliness status of the building.
  • Overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping and ensuring guestrooms and public areas are clean and comfortable.
  • Managing inventories and budgets.
  • Maintain stock levels and buy/order new supplies as required.
  • Train, schedule and supervise the volunteer-team for the following duties:

o Cleaning of conference rooms. o Cleaning of guestrooms. o Cleaning of common areas and dining rooms. o Cleaning of bathrooms and toilets. o Stocking of towels and toiletries, changing linens, emptying trashcans. o Organise laundry. o Maintain a hygiene plan.

  • When no Short-term team is available, the housekeeper works on these duties themselves and organises help from team-members and/or local volunteers.

Skills

  • Supervisory experience is helpful, but training for this is available on the job.
  • Strong organization, communication, and multitasking skills are important.

Requirements

  • A servant-heart and willingness to work practically to serve mission workers.
  • Knowledge of English.
  • Driver's license is a plus.
  • Flexible, friendly, open character.
  • Previous housekeeping experience is not necessary.
  • Must have already have a European passport or a long-term visa to work in Belgium.
